The 8 Best Women’s Golf Bags of 2023 [Cart & Stand Bags]

A golf bag is more than just a place to store all of your gear. Golf bags help you show off a bit of your personality and style on the golf course.

When I was younger, I had a Ping golf bag that was truly my favorite golf bag ever. The thing that made this bag stand out was the color and design more than the features and tech.

Fast forward to today and it’s hard to not be impressed with the current women’s bags on the market. Let’s look at the best women’s golf bags of this year for both stand and cart bags.

What to Look for in a Good Golf Bag for Women

Before you decide on which golf bags are the best for you, there are some key features and functionality you should be aware of. If you purchase the right bag, you can have it in place for several years; it’s worth doing the research now.

Cart vs. Stand Bag

The first big decision that has to be made is whether you are interested in a cart bag or a stand bag. The cart bag will have the most space and room for things like a full-length apparel pocket or a 14 way divider.

However, cart bags add quite a bit of weight and can make it difficult for those that like to walk the course. The stand bag may only have a few dividers, but it has essential pockets like a ball pocket or accessories and beverage pockets.

Many women golfers ride the course or use a push cart; if that is the case for you, the cart bag is the way to go. If you like to walk and carry, stand bags are the only choice.

Pockets

Pockets help you stay organized on the golf course. Some of my favorite pockets in a golf bag are the water bottle or cooler pockets, the valuables pocket as well as a quick access golf ball pocket.

Having some room for apparel and other gear is also important, but the essentials include the pockets to keep balls and tees organized and to ensure that your valuables have a place to sit while you are on the course.

Straps

Almost all golf bags have at least a large shoulder strap to help lift the bag in and out of a vehicle or the golf cart. Some will also have straps that are more like backpack style straps. These are in place to help golfers with walking the golf course.

If you walk, you need the backpack style shoulder straps. Trust me on this one, I love to walk the course, and I would only do it with a stand bag designed specifically for walking.

Color and Design

There are lots of different color options and designs available for women golfers. However, I caution you to be careful with anything too lightly colored. When the colors are lighter, it can be hard to keep the bag clean.

You may play one or two rounds in the rain or on a course that is sandy or muddy, and your bag may never look the same. Keep this in mind, but if you are a fair-weather golfer, there will likely be no issues with any color you choose.

Individual Dividers

The individual dividers of a women’s golf bag keep the clubs from touching each other as you play. When you have the dividers in place, there is a much less likely chance that your grips will have to be replaced.

In addition, it makes it easier to keep your clubs in place and to ensure you are not missing any of them on the golf course.

One glance over at the bag can tell you that your 9 iron is missing.

Cart bags should have 14 or even 15 dividers; many stand bags only have 4-6. The dividers add some weight to the bags, so you see fewer dividers with the stand bags.

Zippers/Magnets

Golf bags also use zippers and magnets to keep the pockets of the bag closed. If you find a bag with magnetic technology, it can be a great benefit. These are very easy to use and can help you get gear in and out of the bag quickly.

When it comes to zippers, just make sure that the zippers are not going to rust. Golf bags are almost always exposed to harsh weather/humidity at some point, and when the zippers rust, it’s hard to get to all of your gear.

Accessories and Features

Some women’s golf bags have a glove holder or a place to store your rangefinder. Some bags also have an umbrella holder or umbrella sleeve. Remember that many accessories can be added to a golf bag after the fact, so don’t be concerned if some things are not included.

Top 4 Women’s Golf Stand Bags

Stand bags are great for the woman golfer that likes to walk the course. In addition, if you go to the practice facility often and want to just bring the entire bag with you, stand bags are much more convenient.

1. Callaway Fairway Plus Stand Bag

Callaway Golf Fairway Plus Stand Bag

Pros

  • Long-lasting and durable fabric
  • Works well on a push cart
  • Good quality club protection for a stand bag

Cons

  • Color selection can be a bit limited at times

The Callaway Fairway Plus stand bag is a push cart friendly stand bag with some great new features. The Fairway is a golf bag model that Callaway has had in place for some time. With the new Fairway Plus, we saw some additional features included.

With this model, you will find a new mid sized 4 way top with rubber over mold. The idea here is that you can put the bag on a push cart, and it sits really well without twisting or swaying. In addition, the bag comes with accessories like an alloy towel ring, durable fabric, and metal zip pulls to make access to the pockets considerably easier.

With Callaway, you don’t have to worry about quality or issues that come up. The only thing to be careful of here is choosing a color that will not get too dirty. So many women’s golf bags are white, pink, or light purple, and those colors can get stained.

2. Ogio Fuse 4 Stand Bag

Ogio Fuse 4 Stand Bag

Ogio Fuse 4 Stand Bag

New 4-way full length divider top for traditional organization of your woods and your irons and putter. 6 front facing pockets including a Rapid Access Snap Ball Pocket, and a Rapid Access Snap fleece lined valuables pocket, and water bottle pocket with drainage port.

Check Price on Amazon

Pros

  • Impressive features for a stand bag
  • Rapid Access pockets are functional and easy to use
  • Self balancing strap system

Cons

  • Some stand bags have more dividers at the top

The Ogio name will come up more than once on our list of the best women’s golf bags. Ogio does a great job of putting together options for golfers with impressive technology and features they need while on the course.

With the Ogio Fuse 4 Stand bag, you get a 4 way full length divider and six front facing pockets. My favorite pocket on the back is the Rapid Access Snap Ball Pocket and also a Rapid Access Snap Valuables Pocket.

The ability to grab the things you use the most is excellent with this bag, and there is even a water bottle pocket to keep you hydrated on the golf course. Ogio is a brand you can trust, and if you like to walk, the molded double shoulder strap is a great solution.

3. Izzo Ultra Lite Stand Bag

Izzo Ultra Lite Stand Bag

Pros

  • Durable and long-lasting fabric
  • Very lightweight design
  • Easy to lift in and out of the car
  • Really fair price

Cons

  • Not the best when it comes to club protection
  • Very minimal accessories and features

The Izzo Ultra Lite Stand Bag for women is an excellent option for those on a budget. If you are new to the game or need something for a fair price, the Izzo is a great solution. In addition, this bag only weighs 3.2 pounds, so you won’t have any trouble loading or unloading it.

Features on the Izzo Ultra Lite are a bit limited. Expect a 4 way top and just 2 full length dividers. This isn’t the best situation for a golfer that plans on putting the golf bag on a cart.

However, the fabric is a 4200 polyester, and it doesn’t fade easily. Overall you get what you pay for when it comes to golf products and gear, but the Izzo Ultra Lite Stand Bag provides good value for what you get.

4. Ogio Woode Hybrid Stand Bag

Ogio Woode Hybrid Stand Bag

Ogio Woode Hybrid Stand Bag

8-way top better organizes your woods and your irons with extra room for large putter grips. 9 front facing pockets including a Rapid Access Snap Ball Pocket, and a Rapid Access Snap fleece lined valuables pocket, and water bottle pocket with drainage port.

Check Price on Amazon

Pros

  • Great combination of cart and stand bag
  • Club protection is better than most stand bags
  • Unique color selection
  • Water bottle pocket with drainage port

Cons

  • More expensive than some other stand bag options on the market

The Ogio Woode Hybrid Stand bag was an option that had to make it on the list. This is a newer design, and it makes so much sense for the golfers that like to walk the course some days and ride others.

With a hybrid stand bag, you will get an 8 way organizer top to keep your clubs from hitting each other. In addition, the pockets on the bag are front facing so you can access them when using a golf cart. There are a total of 9 front facing pockets, which is more than most.

In addition to the Ogio Woode Hybrid stand bag having tons of room for your clubs and gear, they also incorporated more of those Rapid Access pockets. The magnetic closure makes it so easy to keep track of your stuff and stay organized on the course.

Top 4 Women’s Golf Cart Bags

The best cart bags for women golfers are those that have lots of protection for golf clubs and tons of storage. With cart bags, you have to expect that the bag itself will be a little heavier, and that functionality when walking the course is not good.

1. Callaway Chev Cart Bag

Callaway Golf Chev Cart Bag

Pros

  • Plenty of front facing pockets
  • Lightweight and durable fabric
  • 14 way full-length dividers

Cons

  • Bag is a little big to maneuver in and out of the cart

The Callaway Chev cart bag is one of the more popular options for women golfers. With 14 way club organization, the shafts of your golf clubs are much less likely to have issues with damage. Most women golfers play with graphite shafts, and they can get damaged considerably easier.

Each of the 14 slots has a full length divider to ensure that the grips are not rubbing against each other and causing issues. There are five front facing pockets on the Callaway Chev cart bag, including the velour lined valuables pocket.

If you like to carry an extra jacket or two with you, the large apparel pocket creates plenty of room.

2. Datrek DG Lite II Cart Bag

Datrek DG Lite II Golf Cart Bag

Datrek DG Lite II Golf Cart Bag

15-way with full length individual dividers. Soft-grip lift assist handles integrated into bag top. Soft-grip oversized putter well fits a Jumbo grip. Seven total pockets provide ample storage including two oversized Apparel pockets, a large ball pocket and fleece lined valuables pocket. Oversized insulated cooler pocket.

Check Price on Amazon

Pros

  • Oversized insulated cooler pocket
  • The putter well can fit a large grip
  • Seven total pockets
  • 15 way top

Cons

  • Color selection and overall style options are a bit limited

The Datrek DG Lite II Cart Bag is a nice bag for the price. The top features a 15 way divider. If you want to keep your alignment sticks or your swing trainer in one of the slots, you can easily do that.

At the top of the bag, there are soft grip lift assist handles. These are integrated into the top of the bag and make it much easier to maneuver. As we mentioned, one issue that women golfers have with cart bags is the ability to maneuver them; with the Datrek DG Lite II, that shouldn’t be too much of a concern.

3. Sun Mountain Women’s Stellar

Sun Mountain Stellar Cart Bag

Pros

  • Great looking golf bag
  • Incredible storage and organization
  • Good color selection
  • Very stable on the golf cart

Cons

  • Brand new option with premium pricing

Sun Mountain makes some of the most premium golf bag options in the game. The Sun Mountain Stellar is a brand new release that features a 10-way top, tons of storage and protection, and a total weight of under six pounds.

You will really like the full length club dividers and the way that your clubs stay protected in this bag. In addition, Sun Mountain has mastered the cart strap pass through technology. Your bag is going to be centered and stable on the golf cart.

The Stellar also has a total of 11 pockets, including a vented cooler pocket.

One of the things I found most impressive about the bag is that even with all of the added features and cart bumpers for stability, it’s not that heavy!

4. Glove It Ladies Cart Bag

Glove It Ladie's Golf Cart Bag

Glove It Ladie’s Golf Cart Bag

14-way golf club bag that is functional and fashionable, with top-quality materials, expert design, and custom signature prints. 9 easy-access pockets, zip-off golf ball pocket, thermal-lined cooler pocket, soft-lined valuables pocket, umbrella sleeve, integrated putter well, and a rain hood all included.

Check Price on Amazon

Pros

  • One of the best women’s golf bags for the look
  • Several prints available
  • Weighs just six pounds
  • Made with top-quality materials

Cons

  • Bags do tend to fade after a few years

The Glove It Ladies Cart bag is perfect for the woman golfer that wants to have a golf bag different than anyone else on the course. There are so many colors and patterns you can choose from here that you know you will be unique.

With the Glove It bag, there is a 14-way top to keep clubs separated, a thermal lined cooler pocket, and an umbrella sleeve. The total weight of the bag is right at six pounds, so it’s not difficult to get it on and off the golf cart.

If you are into the way the bag looks, this is going to have an eye-catching design.

Carrying a golf stand bag can be a burden if it is
poorly designed.

Not only can its weight slow you down, but limited
storage space could mean carting an extra bag around the course with you. Or a
lack of extra padding on the shoulder straps could leave you in pain the
following day.

Your gear could even become damaged or lost if it
isn’t secured within a good quality bag. This includes your clubs and valuables
such as your keys or smartphone.

Here you’ll find the best golf stand bags on the market, from high-end products to more budget-friendly options, so you and your gear can remain in top shape.

dri lite golf stand bag in light blue

Key features:

  • 14-way divider top
  • Waterproof design
  • Available in six different
    colours

A Golf Monthly’s Editor’s Choice product is kicking
off our list, which sets the tone for the standard we look for when making
recommendations.

Not only does it offer plenty of storage, but it
will also keep your gear dry, thanks to the 100% waterproof material and sealed
zippers.

There are five different pockets, one of which is an
integrated cooler pocket, meaning you can keep your food and drinks cold when
on the go. This is particularly useful during the warmer season.

If you hope to take advantage of its hybrid design,
you’ll be pleased to know the trolley-compatible bottom will keep the bag
perfectly square during transit. The bag only weighs just over 4lbs, so when
you need to carry it by hand, you won’t be overly exerted.

Aesthetics are an important factor to many golfers, and this bag comes in a modern, sleek design. It’s also available in six different colours, so you can customise your purchase to ensure it matches the rest of your gear.

Key features:

  • Four-way divider top
  • Lightweight design
  • Rain hood

Despite its low price, this product offers many of
the same features seen in high-end models.

If comfort and endurance are your priorities, we’d
recommend taking a closer look. Not only is it super lightweight weighing only
4lbs, but it also comes with an ergonomic double strap for a comfortable fit.

Aside from the club storage compartment divided into
four sections, there are multiple pockets for storing the rest of your gear.
These include:

  • full-length garment pocket
  • valuables pouch
  • insulated drinks pocket
  • four accessory pockets

There’s also an umbrella holder, Velcro glove patch,
and a towel ring, demonstrating the attention to detail that has gone into the
design of this budget-friendly option.

One of the best cheap golf stand bags on the market,
the only downside to this product is that it isn’t fully waterproof. However,
it comes with a rain hood, which may suffice if you tend to plan your rounds
according to the weather forecast.

If you’re willing to spend a little extra, the Wilson Staff waterproof golf stand bag offers similar features whilst keeping your gear dry.

PING hoofer lite golf stand bag

Key features:

  • Five-way divider top
  • Customisable ball pocket
  • Convertible shoulder straps

Weighing just 5lbs, the PING Hoofer Lite is 0.5lbs
lighter than the original, so you’ll benefit from increased endurance during
your games if you opt for this model.

You’d struggle to find a more organised golf stand
bag, as it comes with multiple pockets that are spacious and specially designed
to cater to every golfer’s storage needs. There’s a full-length apparel pocket
for storing a change of clothes, a secure pouch for valuables, and even a
customisable golf ball pocket.

Its design is stylish yet innovative for those who
want their golf stand bag to prioritise comfort. The double shoulder straps can
be converted for single-strap use, and there’s a cart-strap channel included as
part of this model’s design—so transporting this bag is easier than ever.

Other useful features include:

  • glove attachment
  • towel clip
  • umbrella loop
  • built-in lift assist

As you can see, this is one of the best golf stand
bags in terms of the range of features it offers.

However, the one downside to this product is that it isn’t waterproof—but if this is a deal-breaker, you could opt for the PING Hoofer monsoon for a slightly higher price.

  • Waterproof design
  • Available in seven different
    colours

The clue is in the name, this golf stand bag from
Titleist is fully waterproof thanks to the StaDry Waterproof construction and
its seam-sealed zippers for added protection against moisture.

Despite its waterproof capabilities, it still weighs
only 3.8lbs and is the lightest golf stand bag on our list. So, if you’re
planning on carrying it by hand, you needn’t worry about it being too much of a
burden.

In terms of design, the bag is sleek and has a
premium, classic feel. It comes in seven different colour options, each with
the stylish Titleist logo emblazoned on the side, so you can customise your
purchase to match the rest of your gear.

The stand is of a brilliant quality thanks so its high-grade aluminium legs and hinged bottom, so you shouldn’t have any issues with stability.

Macgregor hybrid golf stand bag

Key features:

  • 14-way divider top
  • 11 pockets in total
  • Fully hybrid design

This is hands down one of the best cheap golf stand
bags available due to its expansive range of features.

The 14-way divider top provides a designated space
for each of your clubs, which is a nice addition for those who like to be extra
organised.

There are also 11 pockets, including those specially
designed for mobile phones, valuables, and even scorecards. This shows the
thought that has really gone into its design.

MacGregor has developed this bag to be fully hybrid
so that you can easily transport it manually or via a cart or trolley. They
also incorporated anti-slip fabric into its design, which helps to protect it
and keep it in place during transportation.

While it’s not fully waterproof, it comes with a quick-fixing hood to protect your gear during random bouts of rain.

What to look for in a golf stand bag

1. Comfort

You’re going to be carrying this bag for a while.
The average 18-hole round of golf takes four and a half hours, so you don’t want to choose a bag that will wear you down.

Look out for bags with padded straps and ensure the
harness can be adjusted to the right size for your frame. An ill-fitting golf
bag can cause more trouble than one with limited padding.

Some bags even come with padding around the hips and back. So, if you’re currently looking to replace a bag that’s not up to scratch in terms of comfort, this feature should be a priority.

2. Weight

Leading on from comfort, weight certainly matters if
you’re going to be wearing the bag for an extended period.

While you’ll mainly use the stand during the round,
a heavy bag will quickly become a burden when moving between holes, not to
mention the walk back to the car park after a heavy round.

Keep a tab on the weight of the golf bags you’re considering, and opt for a lightweight model if you cannot attach it to a trolley or cart.

3. Storage capacity

If you’re looking for a bag you can use to store
away all your golf gear, it goes without saying that you should choose a
product with a decent storage capacity.

Some bags come with more pockets than others and even have those specially designed to hold valuables or different forms of equipment.

4. Quality

Perhaps one of the most important factors to look
for in a golf stand bag is the quality of its design.

Since the golf equipment market is saturated with knockoff products, it’s easy to fall into the trap of what you think is a good bargain.

We’d recommend scouring the review section of any
product you’re considering and seeing what other customers say about its
quality.

It’s also worth steering clear of cheap knockoffs and opting for a well-known brand or one that appears reliable through an abundance of good reviews.

5. Waterproof

Let’s face it, golfing in the UK has a significant
risk of getting caught in the rain.

If you’re concerned that this could damage your gear
or, at the very least, inconvenience you, it may be best to opt for a
waterproof golf stand bag.

We’ve included a few high-quality options in our list, and we’d recommend spending the extra money if you want to keep your equipment safe and dry.

Specialist golf insurance with Golf Care

To protect your investment in a new golf stand bag,
you may want to protect it through specialist golf
insurance along with the rest of your gear.

With Golf Care, you’ll receive equipment cover up to £7,500 that protects your clubs, bag, and other accessories if they’re lost, damaged, or stolen.

You’ll also receive Public Liability cover up to the
value of £10m, so you’re covered if you cause injury to another golfer or
accidentally damage someone’s property.

Best vs Worst Stand Bag https://golfingagency.com/best-vs-worst-stand-bag/ https://golfingagency.com/best-vs-worst-stand-bag/#respond Sat, 10 Sep 2022 20:29:46 +0000 https://golfingagency.com/best-vs-worst-stand-bag/

When comparing the best versus worst stand bag of 2022, we compared 43 products. 43?! Could 43 golf bags really be all that different?

You would be surprised.

The Vessel Player III DXR is the best overall stand bag in 2022. So which took the dubious title of the year’s worst? Read on!

Verdict

The Vessel Player III DXR is the best stand bag in 2022 with a rating of 93/100. This bag has all of the best pocket sizes and locations, it can work for walking or cart riding, has the best setup as far as dividers are concerned and even has a premium look and feel to complement all those features. The Vessel golf bags are more expensive than others on the market but, in this case, you certainly get what you pay for.

The worst stand bag in 2022 is the Jones Classic Stand Bag. At first glance, it’s obvious this bag does have the same detail or finish as the Vessel Player III DXR. When comparing the best versus worst stand bag, the only area in which the Jones Classic Stand Bag beat the Vessel was with the total weight. Every other aspect did not measure up, earning the Jones Classic a score of just 75/100.

How We Test

The best versus worst stand bag was part of our 2022 Best Stand Bag testing. This process took a total of 23 hours and all bags were tested by the same tester. A total of 43 were tested for things like weight, number of dividers, storage, pockets, colors and features. During the testing process, we took into account walkability as well as cart-riding features.

Performances

  • The Vessel Player III DRX got a first-place finish for the dividers. This includes the number of and location of dividers as well as their usability. The Jones Classic came in 31st.
  • At 6.6 pounds, one of the heaviest on the market, the Vessel DXR took 33rd place in the weight category. The Jones Classic came in at 5.3 pounds.
  • Walkability with the Vessel DXR is third-best, despite the weight. The Jones Classic finished 35th, the lowest of all of its finishes.
  • Features were another category where Vessel took the top honor. Its third-place finish compared to a 27th-place finish from Jones Classic. The bag with the best overall features was the PING Hoofer.
  • The final scores were 93 for the Vessel DXR and 75 for the Jones Classic.

Behind the Scenes of Best Versus Worst Stand Bag

Testing golf stand bags head to head clearly reveal whether their features are truly better than the competition. In our testing, we determined the technology and performance of the Vessel Player III DXR can enhance your golfing experience. Here are more details on what the Vessel DXR and the Jones Classic claim to offer customers and what they bring to the course.

Vessel Player III DXR

  • The top dividers and design easily earned the Vessel Player III DXR the top spot.
  • The magnetic pockets, especially the one for a water bottle, help it stand out from a usability standpoint.
  • Organizational features include an anti-microbial-lined valuables pocket, interior lock pocket, magnetic rangefinder pocket and pen slot.
  • Materials include high-quality synthetic leather and plush mesh-lined dividers.
  • The one downside to the Vessel Player III DXR is its relatively heavy 6.6-pound weight.

Jones Classic Stand Bag

  • Jones Classic Stand Bag is supposed to look like a modern version of a traditional golf bag. From that perspective, Jones did a great job.
  • The pocket design on the bag is symmetrical, creating a classic look but tthe overall storage is poor. Getting things out of the bag can be difficult.
  • You can carry this bag on either shoulder, whichever is more comfortable. A backpack carry strap would have been an excellent addition. The good news is that the 5.3 -pound bag is not too heavy.
  • The top dimensions of the bag are 8″ x 8″, considerably smaller than the Vessel and not as well designed. The three-way divider does not give much room for your clubs to be separate from each other.
  • The key here is that if you care about the look of the bag and want something traditional and classic, the Jones is perfect. However, the functionality is lacking.

Bottom Line

In the end, the Vessel Player III DXR clearly shows its impressive features and functionality. You won’t have to work too hard to find a reason to like this golf bag. In fact, with its clean look, magnetic pockets and perfectly designed top, we had a hard time choosing our favorite feature. The only thing left to decide is which of the five colors you want.
